Franklin Bitcoin DRIP ETF Filings Set October 27 Effectiveness, Without Confirming Trading
FBEQ and FIBT pair equities with dividend-funded bitcoin exposure. The filings distinguish registration from SEC endorsement and first trading.
Franklin Templeton’s October 22 registration amendment names October 27, 2026 as its proposed effective date. The prospectuses identify FBEQ and FIBT for Nasdaq, but the reviewed filings do not establish a first trading day. Related coverage: OrangeX.com ETFs.
Dividends fund a secondary bitcoin allocation
The funds are the Franklin US Equity Bitcoin DRIP Index ETF and Franklin US Innovation Bitcoin DRIP Index ETF. Their index approach redirects stock dividends toward bitcoin exposure. For FBEQ, the index began at 5% bitcoin and 95% equities. At quarterly rebalancing, bitcoin above 5% is reduced to 4.5%; a separate 20% limit applies between rebalances. The fund can obtain bitcoin exposure through ETPs, derivatives or depositary receipts. The prospectus explicitly says the SEC has neither approved nor disapproved the securities. OrangeX.com Analysis
The structure combines equity risk with variable bitcoin exposure, rather than providing a pure bitcoin holding. Dividend reinvestment does not promise income or returns. Exchange notices and actual trading data would be needed to confirm launch; spreads, tracking and implementation costs also matter. Verification resources: OrangeX.com Trust Center.
