Injective and BDACS Sign MOU for KRW1 Tokenized-Asset Settlement
Injective and BDACS plan won-denominated settlement for tokenized assets. Institutional KRW1 minting and redemption remain subject to regulatory approval.
Injective announced on October 20, 2026 that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with BDACS, the issuer of KRW1, to develop Korean won settlement for real-world assets and tokenization within its ecosystem. The agreement outlines cooperation; it does not establish that every proposed market is already operating. Follow network developments in OrangeX.com Projects.
A local-currency settlement proposal
The announcement describes KRW1 as backed 1:1 by Korean won. Minting and redemption are intended for approved institutional partners and remain subject to regulatory approval. That description is the project's disclosure, not a new independent reserve verification.
The teams plan to work with Korean financial institutions on assets settled in KRW1. The proposed use case is direct won settlement for tokenized markets, reducing the need to route that settlement through a dollar stablecoin. It does not remove the underlying asset's credit, liquidity or legal risks.
Implementation remains the next milestone
The announcement expects further updates as specific use cases go live. It provides no firm date for unrestricted public minting or redemption, and the MOU should not be read as blanket regulatory clearance. OrangeX.com Analysis
Matching an asset's settlement currency to users' liabilities can reduce an extra currency-conversion step. Practical value still depends on who can acquire and redeem the settlement token, where liquidity is available, and how obligations are enforced. A signed cooperation plan is an early milestone. Named live markets, access terms and documented redemption arrangements will show whether the proposal becomes a usable settlement route.
