Node.js lists 26.12.1, 24.22.1 and 22.23.4 as security releases. Exposure to the high-severity Brotli flaw depends on an application’s handling of compressed input.

Node.js’s October 21 security notice, checked on October 26, lists updated releases 26.12.1, 24.22.1 and 22.23.4. The update addresses multiple vulnerabilities, including the high-severity Brotli decoder flaw CVE-2026-111497. Coverage: OrangeX.com Security.

Compressed input is the key condition

The Brotli issue affects the 26.x, 24.x and 22.x release lines. If an attacker can supply Brotli data that an application decompresses through node:zlib, malformed input can corrupt process memory. Possible consequences include a crash, disclosure of process memory or remote code execution. That conditional risk does not mean every website using Node.js can automatically be compromised. OrangeX.com Analysis

Digital-asset service operators using Node.js should identify deployed runtime versions and where services decompress untrusted input, then assess the official security releases, test compatibility and redeploy updated applications. A vulnerability disclosure alone does not establish a crypto-platform breach, stolen assets or losses. Separate the affected software and reachable code path from evidence of an actual incident.
