Router Protocol Plans September 30 Shutdown and ROUTE Treasury Burn
Router Protocol plans to end operations by September 30 and burn 303.3 million treasury ROUTE tokens after commercial and acquisition efforts failed.
Router Protocol plans to end operations by September 30 and burn 303,333,198 ROUTE tokens from its treasury, The Block reported on September 6, citing the project’s September 4 announcement.
The cross-chain project reached the decision after efforts to commercialize or license its technology, or secure an acquisition, failed to produce a viable outcome, according to the report.
The planned treasury burn represents roughly 30% of the token supply cited in the announcement. It is a proposed part of the wind-down; the announcement does not establish that the burn has already been executed.
The project also plans to make selected software components open source. No new ROUTE programs are planned, The Block reported.
Exchanges will determine their own delisting arrangements. The September 30 operating deadline therefore does not establish a uniform last trading or withdrawal date across all venues.
