Clearpool proposes a 1:1 CPOOL-to-CLEAR swap and fresh token allocations to support XRPL lending. Governance approval and product launch remain pending.

Key Takeaways

  • Clearpool outlined an XRP Ledger expansion on September 11, alongside a proposed 1:1 conversion from CPOOL to CLEAR.
  • Reported terms allocate 70% of the new token supply to existing holders; the remaining 30% would support the ecosystem, treasury and contributors.
  • The reported terms await governance approval. Clearpool's website still lists its XRPL lending products as coming soon.

Details

Clearpool has proposed replacing its CPOOL token with CLEAR as it prepares to expand institutional lending onto the XRP Ledger. The plan, announced on September 11, would give existing holders one CLEAR for each CPOOL and replenish resources for the expansion, according to CoinGape's account of the proposal.

The reported allocation reserves 70% for migrating holders, 10% for the ecosystem, 15% for the treasury and 5% for contributors. Half of protocol fees would fund open-market CLEAR purchases followed by permanent burns. These are proposed terms, subject to a tokenholder vote.

A 14-day community discussion is to precede that vote, Crypto Economy reported.

Clearpool's own website distinguishes its live multichain business from its forthcoming XRPL offering. The planned product uses RLUSD and identifies Hex Trust as custodian. The site does not present the XRPL lending service as live.

Market Analysis

For CPOOL holders, the conversion ratio and supply allocation answer different questions. A 1:1 swap specifies how many CLEAR tokens a holder would receive. The proposed 70% allocation describes the migrating holders' share of the new supply, with the rest reserved for other purposes.

Buybacks would use protocol fees to remove CLEAR from circulation. The number of tokens burned would depend on fees collected and the repurchase price, alongside any tokens entering circulation under the final allocation and unlock terms.

The next milestones are the final governance terms and vote, followed by the launch and funding of XRPL loans.
