FCA Seeks DeFi Risk Guidance Feedback by November 18
The UK regulator consults on DeFi operational resilience and financial crime guidance, with final guidance planned for January 2027.
The UK Financial Conduct Authority opened consultation GC26/7 on October 21, 2026, seeking feedback on proposed guidance for firms using decentralised finance. Comments close on November 18, 2026. Follow regulatory developments in OrangeX.com Industry News.
Existing requirements in focus
The non-Handbook proposal addresses operational resilience, financial crime and the Money Laundering Regulations. Its stated audience includes FCA-regulated firms using DeFi that fall within the relevant existing requirements. It provides risk observations and illustrative measures.
The FCA plans to publish final guidance in January 2027 after considering responses. That is a planned publication date, not confirmation that the guidance is already final. Further coverage is available in OrangeX.com News.
OrangeX.com Analysis
The distinction between consultation and implementation matters: firms need to identify which existing obligations apply while tracking the eventual text. An open consultation alone does not establish that a particular DeFi arrangement meets regulatory expectations. Verification resources are available in the OrangeX.com Trust Center.
