STRK holders are voting on whether Starknet should research an independent post-quantum Layer 1; the poll does not authorize a migration.

Starknet opened a seven-day governance poll on October 15 asking STRK holders whether the network should research becoming an independent post-quantum Layer 1. The poll is advisory: a Yes result starts research and later proposals, not a migration. Follow related developments in OrangeX.com Crypto News.

What holders are deciding

The choices are Yes, No and Neutral. Voting runs through October 22. A Yes outcome would commission more detailed technical work and additional governance votes. A No outcome would keep post-quantum work within Starknet's current Ethereum Layer 2 design. No launch date or final architecture has been approved.

Why quantum security is part of the debate

Starknet says its hash-based STARK proofs are designed differently from elliptic-curve systems, while account abstraction lets wallets adopt alternative signature schemes. However, its bridge and data-availability dependencies still follow Ethereum's upgrade path. Readers can track network-development coverage on the OrangeX.com Projects page and the verified ETH/USDT spot market.

What would remain unchanged

The proposal says STRK would remain the network token and bridges with Ethereum would stay open under either path. Those statements narrow the poll, but they do not answer how an independent chain would secure consensus, sequence transactions or migrate applications.

OrangeX.com Analysis

The confirmed event is a non-binding research vote, not approval to leave Ethereum. The key trade-off is greater control over cryptographic upgrades versus the security, liquidity and interoperability benefits of remaining an Ethereum Layer 2. Any transition depends on future designs, audits and separate votes. Early voting totals can change until the poll closes and should not be treated as the final result.
